Nicholas Ganis
Macquarie | Top 2
A familiar face has risen to the top at the Brokerpedia National BDM Excellence Awards!
Ranked 11th in the previous year, Nicholas Ganis from Macquarie has made a significant jump,
holding the title of the number 2 BDM in Australia in 2024.
For Nick, this acknowledgment goes beyond mere numbers. It’s an achievement that is not only a career milestone but also a recognition of the lasting relationships he has built within the broker community. As humble as ever, Nick expressed his excitement and gratitude for this leap, stating:
“The fact that this award is voted for by brokers makes the recognition extra special.”
When asked what he had done differently in the past year, Nick concluded that his approach had remained consistent from the previous year. He made conscious efforts to maintain existing broker relationships and make new connections through constant communication. By focusing on being both proactive and responsive, he balances answering daily inquiries and conducting regular check-ins through calls and emails.
While Nick prefers face-to-face communication, he understands that technology plays a crucial role in helping him become closer to brokers and providing them with a top-tier digital service. To expand his reach and be more available for the brokers he works with, he also holds educational webinars and remote meetings.
“Being intuitive to what brokers need is one of the most important parts of a BDM’s role,” Nick said. “Being voted the number 2 BDM in Australia is a direct reflection of the lasting relationships and trust that our broker partners have with not only myself, but the wider Macquarie ecosystem.”
Since he values connections, the best advice Nick can give to fellow BDMs is to view yourself as a business partner, not a salesperson. He added, “Be as genuine as possible. You’ve got to be authentic and genuinely want to solve problems and create efficiencies for the brokers you’re working with. At Macquarie, we strive to give greater confidence and control to our broker partners so that they can spend more time working on what truly matters to them- their clients.”
As he shared last year, Nick remains heavily involved in his personal life. Amidst his busy day, he never forgets to spend time with his family. In his 2023 interview with Brokerpedia, he told us about his two sweet boys. Now, he has a baby girl!
With such a lovely wife and kids, Nick is consistently motivated to get up each day and face any challenges. Additionally, his Macquarie colleagues always have his back. He describes them as “a very tight-knit team” that he can rely on.
As Nick looks ahead, he strives to continue providing exceptional support to brokers. This award is a reminder of the impact he has on numerous lives and the industry as a whole. For Nick, this is the beginning of an even more rewarding chapter.
